Congratulations to these Little Warriors, who won ribbons at the Walton County Fair last week. The word of the week at MSE was "creativity" and they are certainly showed their creative in their awesome artwork!

Our Kids of Distinction choir, under the direction of Ashley Gay, performed at the Walton County Fair last week. As always, these dedicated performers did an amazing job!

Congratulations, Deborah Hatcher! Debbie is our Cafeteria manager and we are proud for her to represent MSE as our ESP of the year!

If you want to weld, build, wire, plumb, fix cars, work on computers, create hairstyles, dispense medicine, or save lives, Emerald Coast Technical College has a program for you! Today, our fifth graders attended a field trip and learned about all the opportunities for them to participate as dual - enrollment students and after graduation. The hands-on opportunities gave them a good glimpse into what could become a life-long career. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to inspire our students!

Congratulations to our October Students of the Month!

More Behavior Blitz fun!

Friday, October 13th was a very lucky day for the MSE students at the Behavior Blitz!

These students in Mrs. Ascetta's class are working toward their Accelerated Reader goal of 40 points in first grade. They are off to a great start at the end of the first quarter. Way to go, Little Warriors!

When the School Picture Day photographer calls your 5th grade class "the most well-behaved class I have ever photographed" and asks to take a picture with them... you get silly and do it! Way to go, Mrs. Forehand's class!

Thank you to all the families who joined us at our Annual Title 1 meeting and Open House last night. We welcomed 168 adults and 181 students, who were treated to a special performance by our first graders. We enjoy seeing our current students, their family members, and former MSE students, at Open House. We hope to see you all again at future Family Engagement opportunities!

Mrs. Forehand's fifth graders using an AVID strategy, creating a "one-pager". A One-Pager is a creative response to a learning experience. It allows students to respond imaginatively while
being brief and concise in making connections between words and images.

More house fun!!

Today was our first HOUSE meeting and the word of the week is TEAMWORK. Each HOUSE was given a challenge to complete as a team. All students worked together and accomplished their task! We also practiced our HOUSE handshakes and HOUSE chants. Be sure to ask your child about their first HOUSE meeting of the year!

This Friday is the deadline for ordering your child a HOUSE shirt! If you have misplaced your order form, be sure to include the information at the bottom with any money that you send in.

Mrs. Merchant's first graders celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day by drinking apple juice, eating apples, and using Apple Jacks to create graphs!

While most students are still eating breakfast or unpacking for the day, the Morning Show Crew is busy preparing to film each day. Kylah, Jacob, and Claire write and enter the script into our teleprompter, prepare music, gather guests, present the news and film the daily show every morning before 8:00. They are hard-working and dependable fifth graders and we are proud to have them as our 2023-2024 Morning Show Producers.

MSE fourth graders attended and participated in an interactive performance by internationally acclaimed cellist, Steven Elisha. Dr. Elish is a professor, conductor, and cellist, and our students thoroughly enjoyed learning all the ways he used his cello to create feelings and emotions during story-telling. Thank you to the Rosemary Beach Foundation for arranging this outstanding performance for our students.

Last week, Ms. Brazile's kindergarten students joined children all around the world to celebrate International Dot Day, as a way to boost confidence and encourage creativity. Everyone should know the power of creativity and how just one small dot can impact the world around them.
