The Freeport Middle School Art Department created patriotic artworks and a large multi-media American Flag to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, a day that changed us forever. Submitted by Mrs. Peloquin-Art Teacher, Freeport Middle School.
What makes things move? WDE second graders used marshmallow shooters to investigate forces. Students learned that nothing moves without force and that everything can be moved if the force is strong enough. The way to put an object in motion is by pushing it or pulling it. The NED Show is a character education assembly that promotes positive attitudes and encourages students and staff to do their very best every day.

Superintendent Hughes is keeping in constant contact with community partners and the Governor of Florida to make sure he has the most up-to-date information regarding the weather. It is his goal to make sure that the students of Walton County are kept safe and parents are provided with information concerning district actions in a timely manner.

Nine Youth Leadership students came together on September 5, 2017, at Freeport High School to compete in the Florida Farm Bureau speech competition for Walton County. Three students from Freeport High School, South Walton High School and Walton High School each competed in the competition. The topic for this speech was "Today's food companies employ many tactics including food labels to gain a marketing edge. How can farmers and ranchers ensure that consumers understand these labels and have more confidence in the safety and quality of their food?"
First place went to Shelbee Castrillo of Walton High, second place went to Kayla “Cheyenne” Cordle of Walton High and third place went to Jenna Martin of Freeport High. Shelbee Castrillo will move on to the Regional Competition in Chipley, FL on September 14, 2017. Congratulations to these students and Good Luck to Shelbee at Regionals as she represents Walton County.
