Mrs. Kent of WMS has taken EPIC to a deeper level in her Language Arts classroom. She used the District Acronym (EPIC) as a path for success in reading strategy and comprehension. A Guide for Super Reading Readers! This is EPIC! The I accentuated in this act of Innovation.

Students in Mr. Bump's class reviewed their recent vocabulary by playing Vocabulary Password. Students worked in groups of 4 to determine the vocabulary words based off the clues their teammates gave them. Students only had 1 minute to guess the vocabulary words correctly before the timer went off. The students enjoyed working with their peers on this engaging review lesson. Superintendent Hughes, Faculty and Staff working with the In10sity Magnet Program students to build a sense of family and community. Plus, a new look for the entrance to In10sity Magnet Program. We are so excited that we get to brag on Jordan Nichols, a Junior at SWHS.  Jordan is a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist.  He is one of 16,000 Semifinalists in the US and will have the opportunity to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. Jordan earned this distinction by taking the PSAT/NMSQT at SWHS.  Last year Jordan was a member of the Walton County Academic Team that won the State Academic Championship.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Seahawk Tennis Team.

We congratulate Jordan for this accomplishment and encourage all of our Seahawks to take the PSAT seriously when it is given at SWHS on October 11th.  Maybe you can follow in Jordan’s footsteps! Submitted by Barbara Stratton.
