PHS Hosts Science Night December 12!

During the Bobcats vs. PDL Pirates basketball games on December 12th from 4 o'clock to 8 o'clock, the PHS science department will be hosting a Science Night in the gym for all students from PreK to 12th grade. The students can participate in STEM activities like sphere robots, Oobleck, a flight simulator, straw rockets, "Are you smarter than a Bobcat?" half time trivia, and others.

5:30-6:00 Meet & Greet w/ refreshments (Christmas cookies and hot chocolate) and an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest
6:00-7:00 Participate in 4 different sessions to learn about all that Clever.com and other online resources have to offer to help your child succeed in math this year!
Door Prizes awarded at the end of the night!

Paxton 8th Grade Studies 8 Traits of Culture

Mrs. Sammie Watson's 8th grade class studied the 8 Traits of Culture and groups were assigned one of the 8 traits. They had to gather information from different countries to compare cultural differences. The posters are a reflection of their research.
School Board and Superintendent Hughes are Awarded for Becoming Master Board Trained!

Walton County School Board and Superintendent Russell Hughes are awarded for becoming Master Board Trained. Chairwoman Kim Kirby, School Board member Marsha Winegarner, and Superintendent Hughes received the plaque on behalf of the entire board for their more than 22 hours of training.
Congratulations as well to Board Members Jason Catalano, Bill Eddins and Gail Smith who are not pictured, but made it possible for this designation for our School Board.
2nd Graders at WDE Study Native American Artifacts

Second grade students at West DeFuniak Elementary enjoyed learning about Native Americans from Ms. Sylvia Glover. Ms. Glover is from Westville, Florida. She collects Native American artifacts such as arrowheads, pottery, deerskin blankets, and other various tools from this era. She explained to the students how the items were used by the Native Americans in everyday life. Students enjoyed holding and observing the artifacts.

Mossy Head Teacher Visited by United Way "Prize Patrol!"

On November 28, the United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties took the day to acknowledge donors, advocates and volunteers who have been instrumental in helping the agency reach it's fundraising goals. Brianne Gregor was nominated to be visited by their "Prize Patrol" in appreciation for her work as a Loaned Executive during the 2017 Campaign.
Cindy Holmes, Resource Development Director of the local agency, shared that Brianne was "hands down one of the best loaned executives this year!"
Walton County School District congratulates Brianne Gregor for her selfless contribution, and epic accomplishment, and thanks Mossy Head School principal, Ronita Hinote, for her willingness to allow Brianne the time to work with United Way!
