Aiden Anderson from West DeFuniak Elementary took a break from summer fun activities to join Superintendent Hughes at the monthly Rotary Meeting. Service is important to Aiden, Rotary members and the WCSD! EPIC3......

WCSD brought together their school administrators and teachers to work on District-wide school improvement plans on Manufacturing Day-2019 at the Carlene H. Anderson Training Center. Administrators, teachers, and members of the SIP teams from each school in the district met to develop an overall plan to move Walton County School District to the Number 1 position in the state by aligning each of the individual school improvement plans to our District Strategic Plan. Superintendent A. Russell Hughes gave an inspiring opening presentation in which he shared accolades to the entire school district regarding the recently released school grades and assessment data, and encouraged the teams to plan “intentionally, specifically, and strategically” as we continue to improve and move forward.

Schools met to review their plans from 2018-19, discuss barriers, and how to turn them into opportunities to increase student success in 2019-2020. Administrators from all departments at the district, as well as representatives from K12 Lift were on hand to lend support and provide resources. K12 Lift is an innovative company who help educators learn from their student outcomes, and learn from each other. Ideas were shared across the room as participants collaborated to develop transformative ideas and implementation. The air of excitement in the room was contagious, and the results for the students of Walton County in this coming year are going to be EPIC3!!!
