Makayla Galloway of Mossy Head School was recommended by her music teacher, Krystina Lyon, to attend the Kids at the Symphony Program.  On December 9, 2016, at 7:30 PM, Makayla attended the Holiday Pops performance with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center.  Makayla was recommended to attend due to her good behavior and involvement in the Mossy Head Choir Program.  Makayla is pictured with Superintendent Russell Hughes.  Congratulations on your recognition. Mossy Head School’s PTO sponsored a snow day for our students.  The cool day was a perfect setting as students played in the snow. The students had a wonderful time! Submitted by Elizabeth Gaither.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) has identified 2015-16 high school graduates for the Bright Futures (BF) Academic Top Scholar (ATS) awards for the 2016-17 year.
Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) who received funding for the fall term at an eligible Florida postsecondary institution are ranked based on the product of their highest Bright Futures GPA and their best SAT® combined or ACT® composite score as reported for their FAS award eligibility. OSFA notifies each Academic Top Scholar of their award.
The Academic Top Scholar in your county, Walton, is Garrett Shost from Seacoast Collegiate High School.

VFW Patriot's Pen Winners

December 16, 2016

The Patriot's Pen Competition, sponsored by VFW, focused on "The America I Believe In" this year. Grade 6-8 students submit a 300-400 type written essay for this topic.  Winners for this competition were all from Walton Middle School and are as follows; Atterol Walters, 3rd Place (left), Deseria Boyer, 2nd Place (center) and Andrew Ellis, 1st Place (right).  These students will be recognized at the January 3rd School Board Meeting at 5:00 P.M. at which time they will receive their monetary awards and certificates from the local VFW. MakerSpace students are learning computer programming skills using Sphero robotic balls. The students programmed Sphero to move in a square, change colors, and learned to put geometry skills into practice. The MakerSpace group is an afterschool club composed of about 60 students in 4th and 5th grade. Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

WCSD Students, Faculty and Staff are out for Christmas & New Year's Holidays beginning on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, we have school Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th.  On Monday, January 2, 2017, there is a teacher work day and on Tuesday, January 3, 2017,  there is a teacher professional development day so students are out both of these days.  Students should return to school on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.  Have a Safe and Happy Holiday!
